As I mentioned before, I have an old 9402-400. It has both tape device and
CD Rom. It seems that the default install device is the tape drive. I want
to upgrade the OS and I would like to know how to change the default
install device to use the CD Rom.

It will read from CD.

Ahh - I have done this however, the indicator that looks like a lightning
bolt stays lit. And the code on the display reads, B1014507

Try to google on this.
"These SRCs appear if the tape device for the alternate IPL was not
found or was not ready. Make sure the tape device is powered on and the
correct tape is loaded and ready. To make tape devices ready, you may
need to open and close the tape device door."

If you go into DST tools during an IPL (A M)...A manual you'll find an
option to change the default install device. Or start by doing a
microcode CD IPL...that will get you there as well.

9402-400???????

9402 was like a Model x02 E04 E06 but 400????(Like a 9406-400) Are
you sure?

According to my AS/400 9402 Problem Analysis Gudie for my 9402-E04:

The "B1xx" is a "Service Processor Reference Code". The code "4507" is
not in my book.

According to the "9402/9404 Models 4xx Problem Analysis, Repair and Parts,
Upgrade" manual SY44-4941-01. SRC B1014507 is due to Tape or CD storage unit
failure
The failure probabilities are:
FI00092 90% load source
FI00072 6% load source media
FI00050 4% any card, cable or card enclosure connected to the failing
bus

I hope this makes sense, but it shows the value of filling the house with
manuals
