Hi all

I hope that somebody can help. I have set up four printers on a
second-user as400 model 150 and they are set up exactly (AFAIK) as we
have done on our own systems, but I get the held message immediately
after replying with a G to change forms.

Load form type '*STD' device PRT01 writer PRT01. (G B I H R C)

File QSYSPRT held by writer PRT01 on output queue PRT01 in QUSRSYS.

Hi all

I've managed to get a bit further by using WORKJOB PRT01

Message ID . . . . . . : CPI400F Severity . . . . . . . : 30

Message type . . . . . : Diagnostic

Date sent . . . . . . : 09/06/06 Time sent . . . . . . :

Message . . . . : Writer PRT01 can not process file QSYSPRT.

Cause . . . . . : Writer PRT01 could not process file QSYSPRT number
3 job
001729/TEST/DSP01 for one of the following reasons.

If Host Print Transform is enabled, the writer can only process
files with
device type of *SCS, *AFPDS, or *USERASCII.

If Host Print Transform is enabled and Manufacturer type and model
is set
to *NONE, the writer can only process files with device type of
*USERASCII.

HPT = Y, but Manufacturer = *HP5SI

The plot thickens, as if I display the spool file attributerd I get: -

Hold file before written . . . . . . . : *YES <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Save file after written . . . . . . . : *NO

This was a simple print screen, so where does the hold file before
written come from?

Thanks

Hi all

Getting closer now, especially when I roll up on the work with spooled
file attributes: -

Device type . . . . . . . . . . . . . : PRINTER
Printer device type . . . . . . . . . : *IPDS <<<<<<<<<<<<
Device file . . . . . . . . . . . . . : QSYSPRT
Library . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : QSYS

Where does the *IPDS come from, as this is defined as a 3812 and there
is only normal text in the spool file.

Thanks

Hi all

Problem solved. The previous owners had been using IPDS printers.
Aaaargh.

Change Printer File (CHGPRTF)

Type choices, press Enter.

File . . . . . . . . . . . . . . FILE > QSYSPRT
Library . . . . . . . . . . . *LIBL
Device: DEV
Printer . . . . . . . . . . . *JOB
Printer device type . . . . . . DEVTYPE *SCS <<<<
was IPDS

Thanks
Neil

Good job you just got to keep digging. It had to be a printer file
problem.
