Hi

Is it at all possible in either V4R4 or V5R1 to get terminal emulation
through internet explorer eliminating the need to use either rumba or C/A? I
know netmanage did a product a few years ago to do it, but I wondered if you
could just do it through the operating system now?

Thanks

There's always IBM's clunky Workstation Gateway
5250-HTML interface, but I expect there are better ones
by now.

Truffle,

Absolutely, yes! Just go to http://www.mochasoft.dk/f_view.html and
download a copy of "Mocha ActiveX TN5250" and give it a try. It's easy to
setup, works great and is VERY fast. It does require Internet Explorer at
the client machine since it's an activeX control.

Best of all, it is easy to set up and only costs $250 for a site license!

We use it and have a link on our Intranet site for all users to use.

Unbelievable product.

BTW, I am not related to Mochasoft in any way. Just a happy customer for 6
years.

I am at v4r4 (actually running guest m36's on the box). We never have used
client access.

Instead use es/tcp (telnet) and have used bosanova tcpip. My preference is
es/tcp because it interfaces with etu/36 just fine.

Doesn't require internet explorer even for such. Just an ethernet connection...

Take a look at IBM Host On Demand, or whatever they call it now.

It's just a Java Applet that you install on As400, will be dowloaded
first time you connect to iSeries, and then give you 5250 video and
printer emulation "automagically".

There are soem really good responses here so here is a few for the pile..

If you are trying to setup secure remote access via broswer over the
internet, try this:

http://www.esker.com/esker_com/products/persona_home.html

If you just want Telenet connectivity via PC try Symtrax 5250:

http://www.symtrax.com/en/products/telnet/request.asp

Really any 5250 emulatotr will work maybe even 3270

If you can get to V5R2 ....

There is a product called iSeries Access for Web (included in the
iSeries Access LICPGM) that does exactly that.
