Jonathan,
In Zonealarm, go to the Alerts & Logs section and then click on the Log
Viewer tab - there you can see a list of all the incoming and outgoing
connections with the status (refused/accepted etc).
Look for refused connections from the AS/400 - use the TCP/IP address to
find them. When/if you find a refused connection from the AS/400, click on
the message - this will bring the message detail up at the bottom of the
screen. What will also happen is that the "Add to Zone" button will be
enabled. Click on this button and select the "trusted" zone to teach
Zonealarm that connections from the AS/400 (well, the TCP/IP address) are
"safe".

Post by Jonathan BallPost by Charles WiltJonathan,
As I understand it this is do to the iSeries sending out a packet to
make sure the session is still alive, having the packet blocked by the
client side firewall, and disconnecting the "dead" session.
I don't have this problem since I use a VPN.
1) Open up your firewall to allow the packets from the 400.
I've guessed about how to do this, with no success.
I'm not a netadmin at all, and ZoneAlarm has what
appear (to my inexpert eye) to be some fairly
sophisticated capabilities for setting "expert rules".
Unfortunately, their help files don't go into much
detail about the settings to use.
When I asked about this last fall, a number of people
asked why I am using the firewall, given that I'm going
through a VPN. The answer is that I'm also connected
to the internet while I have the various iSeries Access
windows open.
Post by Charles Wilt2) change TIMMRKTIMO parm of CHGTELNA to 0 (no timeout)
I have that set to 7200 on the host AS/400, but my
sessions were still dropping after just a couple of
minutes of not being used.
Post by Charles WiltNote that option 2 means the iSeries won't clean up sessions that
abnormally end.

Post by Jonathan BallI've asked about this before, and never got anywhere.
My iSeries Access Express (V5R2) sessions keep
dropping. This concerns primarily telnet and OpsNav
SQL script windows.
I've changed the keep-alive values on the host using
CHGTELNA & CHGTCPA, and I've tried fiddling with
various client keep-alive settings using CWBCOPWR, but
nothing helps.
My PC is running XP Pro, and I'm behind a ZoneAlarm
firewall. I connect to the host through a VPN.
