Does anyone know of a free 5250 emulator which will run on 98/ 2000 / XP?

Client access is just too big to install just for simple terminal
emulation....

Nexus and Mochasoft both make 5250 emulators that you can download and
try for free. I've tried both and my personal preference was the Nexus
emulator. After using it for a few weeks I sent them the $40 (maybe a
bit less at the time)--someone had to put time and effort into the
software development and a $40 price tag is not asking much at all.

TN5250 works great--the link's already been posted.

It looks best if you set it to a scalable font. I think that "System" is
the one I use on XP.

Ofcourse there is...

tn5250j.sf.net

this is the tn5250 emulator but completely written in java.
We use it here at our company for 4 years now.

And last but not least i'm one of the programmers of that project.
The emulator also support jython scripting for fast app development
in combination with the sessions, in other words you can automate
a lot by using jython scripts to do your job.

Oh and a very last tip...

If applied the very last cum package SF99502 for V5R2M0
be sure to grap the latest cvs-code and recompile. The CVS
version fixes a java-bug for more sessions, but there is not
released a new version yet. It runs best on J2RE 1.4.2_xx

Best Regards,

Patrick
